News and Notes from Wooden Wheel

The Political Season

As Iowans we all know every 4 years we see members of the national media and politicians that we never see any other time. During past few years our Event Center has become recognized as a unique venue for all types of gatherings in our area.

We have been very happy to host numerous politcal events from either party in the past and look forward to continuing our efforts making all of our political leader accessible to people in our area.

On May 16th we will be visted by Gov. Rick Perry of Texas for a local fund raiser.

On June 5th we will be visited by Jared Klein our local Iowa Representative.

For more information on either event please call 319-430-5618.

We hope to attract some more national candidates, so check back her and we will keep informed on how we do.

Fingerlakes Competition

This year we competed in the Finger Lakes Competition in Rochester, New York and we are excited to share that five of our six submissions received medals.

George G. - Silver

Clara's Cranberry - Silver

Private GW - Bronze

Isabella - Bronze

Martin & Tessie - Bronze

The Finger Lakes Competition had 3708 wines from 27 countries, and 50 states to be judged this year. This was our first time competing in New York and we are very happy to have received these medals. Come in and enjoy tasting our award winning wines.

Clara's Cranberry

If you have missed our Clara's Cranberry, (we sold out in December) you're in luck. We just finished bottling and it is ready for you to enjoy.

A New Wine

Come in and taste our new Aronia Berry wine. It is made from locally grown Aronia Berries with an earthy tone with notes of Black Current and Cherry. It is a semi-sweet wine that is best served chilled. The Aronia Berries were supplied by Levi Lyle.

Spring Fever

Are you ready to get out and enjoy some spring weather?
Each year we get a lot of questions about pruning our vines, when, if or how much.
Now is your chance to stop out and see how we prune our vines in the spring to get our best crop.

Just give us call and let us know when you would like a quick lesson on pruning grape vines.
